Claude Code Max requirement
Operum currently runs on top of your Claude Code Max subscription. Here's why — and what's coming.
Why is this required?
Operum's agents (PM, Architect, Engineer, Tester, Marketing, Community) are built on top of Claude Code, Anthropic's agentic coding tool. Each agent runs as a Claude Code session, which means you need an active Claude Code Max plan from Anthropic to give the agents the model access and usage budget they need to actually do work.
Without an active Max plan, your agents will appear in the app but won't be able to execute tasks — they'll fail to launch or hit rate limits immediately.
How do I get one?
Subscribe to Claude Code Max directly from Anthropic. Plans start at $100/month. Once you've subscribed and signed in to Claude Code on the same machine where you run Operum, our agents will pick up your credentials automatically.
We don't resell or proxy Claude access — you bring your own Anthropic subscription and Operum orchestrates it.
What about other AI models?
Support for additional AI engines — including OpenAI, local LLMs (via Ollama and similar), and other agentic coding tools — is on our near-term roadmap. Our goal is to let you pick the model that fits your workflow and budget without locking you into one provider.
We'll announce broader model support in our changelog and to subscribers via email. The Claude Code Max requirement is a starting point, not a permanent constraint.
